This workshop starts with a rope making demonstration by Robbie, then you will make your own rope from whatever colours you chose.
Next is a demonstration of tying a Monkeys Fist before you are guided through tying your own one with the rope you have made.  A 'monkeys fist?' It is a heavy duty knot used on sailing ships. Used as extra weight on the heaving line.
This workshop is tutored by ex sailor Robbie, from 'Robbies Ropework', who makes traditional decorative and functional knots into home decor.
The workshop is an introduction into this Red Listed ( dying or disappearing) craft of ropemaking and knot tying.
All materials and equipment needed will be supplied and everyone will leave with their own complete handcrafted key fob that started off as a piece of cotton yarn.
