Botanical Eco Contact Printing Workshop
Name of class - Botanical Eco Contact Printing
Host name - Vanessa
Description of class / Room - Botanical contact printing is a process where leaves and flowers are compressed into paper. Through boiling in water, the dyes and tannins from the plants, and from rusty metal in the water, are absorbed into the paper to create magical printed imagery.
* You will select and arrange the foliage. * You will learn how to compress, what to add to the water and how the boiling process works. * We will discuss what we can do with the printed papers once created. * You will be shown examples. * You will be making cards and gift bags from pre printed papers while our prints cook. * You will remove the plants from the paper to reveal the patterns. * The prints will be cleaned and dried by tutor and returned to you in a week. It is quite a messy process, so wear old clothes. All plants, equipment and papers are supplied. As botanic printing is so variable in nature, results can vary and cannot be guaranteed.
